Do you know that the average adult breathes approximately 20,000 times a day? This requires 10,000 litres of air, good quality air, if we are to remain healthy. In Cyprus this is questionable.
EVERY MOVE WE MAKE
There are many contributors to air pollution in Cyprus: power plants, traffic, forest fires and Sahara dust storms. The latter two are an increasingly regular phenomena, linked to climate change. Meanwhile power plants and traffic are one of the main emitters of toxic gasses, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen dioxide all harming human health.
every effect…
All of these pollutants are proven hazardous. They do not only cause premature death but are also responsible for lung cancer, respiratory diseases as well as being responsible for long term damage to people’s nerves. According to CyprusMail.com between 2018-2019, nearly 800 citizens died prematurely due to air pollution. Some scientists suspect air pollutants cause birth defects.
