Palermo Post Office goes ahead with Poste Italiane’s green strategy. The Center now has 28 special three- and four-wheeled motorcycles, eight cars and one van, all 100% zero-emission. The 37 vehicles will be powered by the same number of electric charging stations, which are part of a phased plan of installations that has currently resulted in the activation of 260 charging points in delivery centers around the island.
Before joining the Poste Italiane fleet, the cars were made functional for the needs of the postal service: special compartments and racks allow boxes and parcels to be transported in the cars, while tricycles and quadricycles are equipped with large luggage compartments to optimize and facilitate delivery work.
The enrichment of the company’s fleet with new totally “green” vehicles is also part of the days of “Green Month,” which has seen Poste Italiane committed to supporting awareness of good eco-sustainable practices, including with initiatives on the Sicilian territory. These include the dimming or turning off of lights in several locations in Sicily on March 25. The month dedicated to environmental awareness will end on April 22 with Earth Day, an event established by the United Nations to celebrate the preservation of the planet.
Poste Italiane’s commitment to the green transition, which in terms of mobility currently translates into 13,000 environmentally friendly vehicles, aims to contribute to the company’s 2030 goal of Carbon Neutrality – or zero net greenhouse gas emissions.
