HOW TO CHANGE THE FOOD WASTE IN THE WORLD

by Mar 6, 2024blog

Food waste is a big problem that we should all be aware of. Did you know that around one-third of all food produced worldwide goes to waste? Not only is this a waste of resources but it also contributes to environmental issues.

  1. Around 931 million tonnes of food go to waste each year.
  2. 61% comes from households, 26% from food service and 13% from retail.
  3. Reducing waste could have social, economic and environmental benefits.

It might not seem like it but throwing food in the bin can affect climate change.

The process of getting food on our plates takes a lot of time and resources such as water, energy, and transportation.

Transportation of food and rotting food can produce greenhouse gases which are damaging to the environment.

HOW TO PREVENT IT?

We can all do our part by being mindful of our food consumption, planning ahead and donating any excess food to those in need.

We all need to work together to reduce food waste and make a positive impact!
